Technical Data

Technical data is the lifeblood of ILS and encompasses all recorded information of a scientific, technical and engineering nature relating to the equipment / system.  Without technical data, most of the normal developmental, operational and maintenance processes would not be able to proceed.  Technical data includes all forms of specifications, standards, engineering drawings, instructions, reports, manuals, tabular data, test results and software documentation used in the development, production in-service operation, logistic support or disposal of the equipment / system.

Factors that may be considered in a Technical Data program may include:

bullet

an assessment of the range and depth of data required;

bullet

the availability and timing of data acquisition;

bullet

data formats;

bullet

the elimination of duplicated data requirements;

bullet

processes to be used for data acquisition;

bullet

verification and validation of acquired data;

bullet

technical data distribution requirements and procedures; and

bullet

updating / amendment arrangements and procedures.
