Maintenance Support

Maintenance support is the process necessary to develop, establish and integrate into the existing infrastructure, a maintenance support system capable of sustaining the equipment / system throughout its life, at minimum overall cost commensurate with meeting the operational requirements.

The aim of the Maintenance Support discipline is to achieve integration of the various maintenance support aspects.  The maintenance planning process begins with the development of a Maintenance Concept, which is a statement of general parameters to be used in developing a maintenance plan.  The scope of maintenance planning may include, but is not necessarily limited to:

bullet

establishing maintenance targets for inclusion in the design in the design or selection process;

bullet

technical analysis of the equipment;

bullet

identification of maintenance constraints, requirements, technical skills and resource requirements;

bullet

identification of interface requirements within the existing infrastructure;

bullet

developing maintenance and repair level policies;

bullet

identifying maintenance tasks (maintenance task analysis); and

bullet
